The institute

A general dentist teaching what he does every week

Bigler Dental Institute exists because Dr. Bigler kept getting the same question from colleagues: how do you actually do that in a general practice? The courses are his answer, taught where the work happens.

Background

Dr. John A. Bigler is a native of Northeastern Arizona and an avid outdoorsman. He graduated from Arizona State University and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Colorado.

He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). Since 2004 he has practiced at Canyon Vista Dental Care in Apache Junction as owner and mentor doctor.

He is a member of the Spear Faculty Club and a study club leader, an implant mentor dentist for Inobiosurge of America, and sits on various advisory boards.

He has completed advanced training in orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry, implant surgery and restoration, and TMJ/TMD, myofascial pain, and sleep apnea.

His focus has always been comfortable, personalized care. Teaching is the next part of that: passing the skill on to other dentists who want to do more for their own patients.

Why I teach

Colleagues kept asking how a general practice handles the cases most offices refer out. Answering that question one doctor at a time was the best part of my week, so I built a place to do it properly.

What I want to pass on is not a product pitch. It is the sequence, the judgment, and the small decisions that make comfortable, personalized care repeatable in your own office with your own team.

The facility

Built inside a working practice

The institute is not a rented conference room. It sits inside Dr. Bigler's Apache Junction practice on South Idaho Road, which means you learn in a real clinical environment with real equipment and a real team moving around you.

Students train on the same workflows the practice runs every week, from planning through the lab bench, rather than on a setup that only exists for the length of a hotel seminar.

That has a practical effect on how the courses run. When a question comes up about a workflow, the answer is usually in the next operatory rather than on a slide.
